Structured learning from half a day to two days, depending on scope: full workshops in financial strategy and revenue recognition, or an expert-guided Applied Framework Session working through one framework against your own deal.
For finance, business development, and BD&L executives who need a working command of the accounting standards behind licensing deals, not just an overview.

These courses sit within a wider Strategic Transaction Accounting Advisory practice covering the full transaction lifecycle. Licensing and collaboration deals are where the deepest evidence and experience sit, and where most business development, legal, and finance teams first meet the accounting consequences of a deal in the room.
Case studies and decision trees drawn from live licensing negotiations, not textbook examples.
Up to twenty participants, pre-course questionnaires, live polling, and space for your specific deal questions.
Delivered by the former Head of Accounting External Relations for Roche's global alliances team, and IFRS 15 co-developer.
Two full workshops for teams who want structured, in-depth training, and a shorter Applied Framework Session for anyone who wants expert guidance through a single framework against their own deal, without committing to a full workshop.
The in-licensing workshop builds the financial and deal-structure foundation from the in-licensing side. The revenue recognition workshop goes deep on IFRS 15 from the out-licensing side. Most teams send different people to each, some send the same person to both.
For Business Development, Legal, and Finance executives who need to understand the accounting consequences of an in-licensing deal before it is signed, not after. Covers financial statements, deal terms from a financial perspective, IP classification, and the accounting impact of equity transfers.
Builds on the out-licensing side. Milestone payments, tiered royalties, and multi-territory rights make traditional revenue accounting difficult, this workshop takes senior accounting and business development professionals through the full IFRS 15 five-step framework, applied to real licensing scenarios.
Open enrolment runs against fixed cohort dates, register your interest and be notified as soon as the next session is scheduled. In-house is a private session booked directly for your team.
Each MIO Consult framework is built for self-directed use. An Applied Session adds direct expert guidance: working through the framework against your own deal structure, identifying critical flags, preparing the external data the analysis needs, and producing an output ready for your board or auditor. Seven frameworks are available as individual sessions or as structured bundle programmes.
Booked and delivered through Upwork. See the frameworks page for what each framework covers before choosing a tier.
Both workshops build directly on this course. These testimonials are from that earlier delivery.
